Biography

Ben grew up amidst the Seattle grunge scene during its heyday, where he developed a deep love of both orchestral and rock traditions as a singer, songwriter and guitar player from the age of 8. He honed his musicality and breadth of knowledge as a part of the National Honor Choir and the Northwest Choirs through high school, but his love of storytelling grew to a new level while studying music and film at USC, and he’s been involved in film music and music editorial ever since. With more than 10 years at Modern Music prior to joining Formosa, Ben has worked with countless talents including directors Jay Roach, Lee Daniels, Seth Gordon, and Wes Craven and composers Mark Isham, Christopher Young, Marco Beltrami and Dave Grusin. He loves to work and is equally adept in all genres. Ben loves the collaboration that film music allows, “bringing both the point of view of the filmmaker and the emotional core of the project together in a way that is musically innovative, indelible and innate to the project itself.”
