Biography

Anna Carina Roller (born April 20, 1993 in Munich) is a German film director and screenwriter. After graduating from the Kurt-Huber-Gymnasium in Gräfelfing, she completed an internship in the production of the film Tom und Hacke and as an assistant director at the Neuköllner Oper. With the support of the funding program “In eigener Regie” for youth media groups in Bavaria, she made the film Kuntergraudunkelbunt, for which she won the German Newcomer Film Award in 2013. She studied at the University of Television and Film (HFF) in Munich from 2014 to 2022. In 2019, she was part of the Future Frames selection of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival of the European Film Promotion. In the same year, she was selected as a participant in the Les Arcs Talent Village. In 2020, she developed the web series Curfew Calls. Together with Katharina Kolleczek and Lea Neu (Kalekone Film), she accompanied 14 teams as a show runner, each producing a 5-10 minute episode. Her final feature film Dead Girls Dancing celebrated a double premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival and the Munich Film Festival.
