Biography

Jacky Yeap just graduated from University Malaysia Sarawak – Cinematography student (2015). His Final Year Project was entitled “Defining Malaysia Indie Film”. Furthermore, a short film produced by him which entitled “When We are Together” hadwon the best script and Audience Choice Awards in the 11th Mini Film Festival held by University Malaysia Sarawak. Additionally, the others short film entitled “I Want To Be a Politician” has been nominated as the Top 6 Finalist in the YOUNG MINGS short film screening (Malaysia). In his filming life, he was influenced by several filmmakers from Taiwanese New Wave and Malaysia indie filmmakers such as Hou Hsiao Hsien, Edward Yang, Tsai Ming Liang, Tan Chui Mui, Yasmin Ahmad, James Lee and etc. His favorite personal styles are static long take, long dialogue, as well as the relationship between characters. InJune 2015, he has joined the “Next New Wave” workshop organized by the FINAS and the DaHuang Picture.
