Ivonne Balcuba is a 21-year-old aspiring filmmaker currently pursuing her AB Communication degree at De La Salle University – Dasmariñas (DLSU-D). At the helm of her creative journey is her brainchild, IVOИNE Films. In October 2020, Ivonne introduced herself with "Kuya, Clara," a poignant quaranfilm that she both wrote and directed in collaboration with OИSCREEN Films. The narrative focused on gender acceptance and featured the talented performances of Ana Sirot and Jeffrey Ituriaga. Following this success, Ivonne ventured into the intricate landscape of relationships with her December 2020 release, "Kwentong Pelikula: Sam & Marco." This film, starring Lovelee Delima and Jioaquim Reyes, demonstrated Ivonne's commitment to diverse storytelling. April 2022 saw the release of "Patior," Ivonne's third project co-written by and starring her colleague, Jayson Ababa, alongside Jannah Laureano. The film delved into themes of confronting reality and overcoming the fear of losing one's aspirations. In December 2023, Ivonne took a major step with her fourth project, "Among Us," which explored the hazards of meeting strangers online, diving into the consequences of seeking novel forms of entertainment. Starring Dexter Stephenson, Jannah Laureano, and Kate Cubcubin, "Among Us" received acclaim, becoming a nominee at international festivals such as the Imo International Film Festival (ImoIFF) 2023 in Nigeria and the 2024 Lift Off Global Film Festival in United Kingdom. Simultaneously, Ivonne spearheaded "Project Milagrosa," a mockumentary film addressing fanaticism and false beliefs. Directed by Ivonne, with Pat Sarmiento as the writer, and produced with Alas Tres Cuatro Production, the film clinched seven major awards at DLSU-D's Gawad Tala 2023, including Best Story and Best Screenplay. In addition to her major projects, In the same year, Ivonne's filmography boasted impactful short films such as "Third Eye" and "Captured”, the latter serving as DLSU-D’s official entry to IP Academy’s Festival of Stories.
