Best known for her work on the iconic TV shows Game of Thrones and Lost, Paula has garnered numerous awards and nominations for her work in both Canada and the US, including 10 Emmy nominations and 1 win for her work on Game of Thrones.
TV, film, commercials, and basically anything that makes noise. Her passion is high-concept sound design, and her main interest is working with visionary filmmakers, as clearly reflected in her resume and her background as an artist. During the course of her career, she has worked with auteurs including James Cameron, Darren Aronofsky, Robert Rodriguez, Brian DePalma, Paul McGuigan, and The Soska Sisters. And she has done work for a range of platforms, including film, TV, commercials, mnemonics, VR, installations, and immersive concerts. She was born and raised in Nova Scotia and is a graduate of NSCAD University. During her career as an exhibiting artist, she was the co-director of Canada's foremost media art centre, Charles Street Video. Her art work resides in several collections worldwide, including the National Gallery of Canada.
In addition to her commercial work, Paula has recently started her immersive sound composition, Ocean of Tears, a sonic poem about grief. She presented a work-in-progress act from this work in London, in conjunction with the University of Greenwich and the L-Acoustics’ L-ISA team, in August 2019. The full work will premiere in 2020.
