Antique merchant Wei Yo-li, back with his wife Hiu-hsien from a business trip to the mainland, is angry with his son Chiu-sheng for taking away his Gold Buddha figure as prop for an experimental movie. He takes his son to task, but his wife cools him down. Dedicated to the antique trade, Yo-li yearns to have his son inherit his business some day. He is disappointed that he, a mass communication student, is only interested in movie production. Chia Ming, who came in childhood with his auntie from the mainland has lived with her for several years. Having developed an independent personality, he is now a mass communication student on a half-work/half-study basis and lives alone in Cheung Chau. He gets the care of his landlady for his daily needs, and ekes out an existence. Susan Yeh, a co-ed with Chiu-sheng and Chai Ming in English literature in the same university, is a school queen wooed by male classmates……
