Cathy and Ed attend Mary's funeral. The event gives them a chance to talk about their own grief over the baby. Back at the clinic, confusion reigns while the doctors are away. Mrs Fleming finally understands the truth about Fiona and apologises to Cathy and Ed for misjudging them.

She realises that her family cannot cope and she has to give up her single lifestyle and move back home to care for Mary, a difficult woman whom Keelin has never got on with at the best of times.
