After forty years of armistice, the Cylons attacks the Twelve Colonies of Kobol. Their strategy: a virus implanted into the mankind defense system. The former Battlestar Galactica, which is being adapted into a museum, is not connected with the defense system and becomes the only warship capable of fighting against the Cylons in the hopes of leading the survivors to planet 'Earth'.
In a distant part of the galaxy lie The Twelve Colonies of Man, a civilization that has been at peace for some forty years with an empire of machines, the Cylons, who were created generations before as worker drones for mankind, but became independent, rose in rebellion, and launched war on their masters. Now, the Cylons have evolved into more human form, into machine-created biological beings, who seek to exterminate true biological humans. To this end they use a human scientist, Gaius, to help one of their infiltrators, known as #6, penetrate the Colonies' master...
The first Cylon war has been raging for 10 years and a young Ensign William Adama joins the fleet. He's disappointed not to be assigned to a fighter but to a freighter. His co-pilot, Lt. Coker Fasjovic, isn't too keen on having a rookie flying his aircraft as he has only a short time before he again becomes a civilian. Their cargo is a civilian scientist, Dr. Becca Kelly, but they no sooner leave than she has new orders for them and a new destination. She is less than forthcoming about just what her secret mission is but Adama is keen, particularly as it involves going into Cylon controlled space. Nothing is as it seems however.
Admiral William Adama assigns the Pegasus to find a Raptor that vanished during a scientific-research mission. At the Raptor's last known location, an armada of antiquated Cylon Raiders piloted by Centurions attacks the Pegasus. The captive Sharon identifies the old-fashioned machines as "guardians," a particular group of Cylons who experimented on humans during the first Cylon War.
Battlestar Galactica: The Story So Far is a special program aired on the Sci Fi Channel that summarizes the first 2 seasons of the Re-imagined Series. The special was intended to attract new viewers and offers no new content for frequent viewers of the series. Narrated by actress Mary McDonnell (voicing the narration in her character of Laura Roslin), The Story So Far ignored several supporting and significant story arcs and character developments in the interest of the program's limited 43 minute air time.
