This is the biggie that closes the sitcom's first season. Paul joins the contest to end all contests, finding the letters printed behind Guinness Stout labels to make up the name 'Sally Yeh'. And he wins the grand prize - high tea with the real Sally Yeh! Not to be outmatched by Paul's zeal, Daisy is just as tenacious in clinching an advertising account. The Tan family takes a break and comes back with its second season.
Teck's secondary school sweetheart, Suzie Sim Bee Lian pays an unexpected visit. Teck is happy with the reunion but Dolly is jealous of Suzie's success in life, and thinks Teck wants to take up with his old flame again. Dolly's powerful imagination is matched by Ronnie's fervent desire for Teck to sell his minimart for an unbelievable amount of money.
Ronnie plots revenge on his Australian friends and Graham, in particular, doesn't take too kindly to his tactics. At the same time, Flora appears to be quite adventurous in her food preferences despite being a vegan. Meanwhile, Miss Boo has been stalking Michael and pressures him into saying "I do". He thinks the woman has one screw loose and despite all his efforts, he just can't seem to shake her off.
Two business students from Australia are coming to Singapore as part of the AIESEC exchange programme. Ronnie expects them to be moneymad wheeler-dealers like him but they turn out to be a different kettle of fish altogether. Meanwhile, Denise's relief teacher from school, Miss Boo, meets up with Michael and develops a strong attraction for him. Michael doesn't take her seriously but Miss Boo has other ideas on her mind.
Misled by Ronnie, Dolly and Rosnah go on a shopping frenzy and discover the magic of buying on credit. But soon they discover the perils of living the cashless lifestyle. The shopaholic complex has some strange repercussions for the Tans, but none stranger than Ronnie's, who becomes paranoid about swallowing pills!
It's the Tan's anniversary this week and Dolly's invited her sister, Abigail, from Taiping, as well as Teck's mother for dinner. Her family has always thought Abigail a little strange - she's very shy, extremely sensitive, and tends to cry a lot. Thank goodness she's only coming for dinner! But Abigail shows up five days early and the Tan have a hard time coping with her and her strangeness.
Denise and Melissa have been spotted by a talent agent and so they start on their modelling careers. Melissa is caught up with the glamour but Denise doesn't want to go too far. The problem is, that is exactly where Melissa wants to go. Ronnie helps Paul get a part in the Phantom of the Opera but the road to fame and fortune doesn't come cheap.
