Detectives investigate her death when a witness to the signing of the will is murdered.

When one of their number, Charlie Cook, is found dead, they dispose of the body for fear that a police investigation would expose their activities and land them in trouble with the Taxation Department.
Upcoming young pop star Annette Bishop is abducted and her chauffeur, Bob Wilson, is shot. The abductors, Danny Clark and Ted Randle, are demanding a ransom, and it transpires that the girl's mother, Sandra Bishop, is in league with them. Later the girl's father, ex-prisoner Des Bishop, muscles in on the act, but at this stage it looks as if Annette has died from an overdose of sedatives.
