A school is forced to evacuate its pupils when Storm Caroline lashes the Orkneys, but one of the vehicles breaks down by the sea wall with 33 children on board.

The emergency services are stretched to the limit as Storms Doris and Eleanor hit the UK, with 90mph winds taking drivers by surprise and putting Highways England traffic officers under pressure, while South Central Ambulance paramedics are called out when 12 migrants are found in the back of a lorry in sub-zero temperatures. Meanwhile, the Stornoway Coastguard's helicopter scrambles to rescue a climber who fell from 70ft cliffs precariously close to the sea.

On a busy motorway in the north west, the Highways England team is tasked with rescuing a family broken down on the hard shoulder in thick fog.
