Sum Chi finally comes to see General Tit, who promises to escort Sum Chun back to the palace. Kay Yuk orders Ngo Shan to cast a spell on Sum Hung, turning him into a walking dead. Sum Hung sets out to kill Kay Chun. At the critical moment, Yan Yan has no choice but to kill Sun Hung with her own hands.

Seeing Yi Lan's devotion to Sum Chi, Ya Sin decides to allow Sum Chi to stay on and pledge his loyalty to Yachi. When she learns that Yuk Lung is taken ill, Kuan Wah sneaks into the palace to see him. She is caught by Kay Yuk and is driven out. Sum Hung impersonates as a doctor in order to assassinate Kay Yuk. Failing to get him, Sum Hung grabs the baby and escapes. Yi Pui Sha uses the walking dead she has trained and starts a riot. Yi Lan and Sum Chi join hands and suppress the riot. Yi Pui Sha ends her own life. After the event, Ya Sin decides to go for peace negotiation with Ming. He orders for the release of Kay Chun and has Sum Chi and Yi Lan escort him back to the Ming court. Kay Yuk declares that he would step down the throne for his brother. But secretly, he has sent killers to intercept Sum Chi and the others.

Sum Hung insists on going along with sum Chi to assassinate Kay Yuk. To spare him of the risk, Sum Chi works with Yan Yan to put him into unconsciousness, and sets off alone. Kay Yuk evades Sum Chi's attack and has him imprisoned. Kuan Wah threatens to kill herself if Kay Yuk does not let go of Sum Chi. Kay Yuk yields to her threat, but has secretly fed him with poison. Kuan Wah gives birth to a baby boy, whom Kay Yuk named Yuk Lung. Seeing that Kuan Wah remains restless staying by his side, Kay Yuk drives her away. Yi Lan saves Sum Chi and takes him back to Yachi. When Yi Pui Sha discovers that Yi Lan is trying to cure Sum Chi of his sickness, she reports it to Ya Sin. In reaction, Yi Lan declares she is marrying Sum Chi.

Aghasted about Kay Yuk's ruthlessness, Kuan Wah moves out of the palace. She sides with Sum Chi in confronting Kay Yuk. Framed by Kay Yuk for attempting to assassinate him, Sum Chi is heavily ambushed. Sum Hung comes to his rescue. Furious, Kay Yuk orders for the massacre of members of White Lotus Sect. Kuan Wah has conceived Kay Yuk's baby. Kay Yuk uses this opportunity to sweet-talk Kuan Wah into going back to the palace. In the fight against army sent from the court, Cho Pat is sacrificed. Kay Yuk refuses to make land concessions to Yachi in exchange of Kay Chun. Sum Chi decides to assassinate him during the Heaven Worship ceremony.

Because of lack of ammunitions, Kay Chun and Sum Chi lose the battle. Kay Chun is taken war prisoner, and Sum Chi is secretly released by Yi Lan. Sum Chi recovers from his injuries and heads for the court, wanting to find out the story behind the fake ammunitions. Sum Hung and Yan Yan cover him on the way. Yiu Kwok and other officials are shocked with grief learning about the battle. Yiu Kwok corners Kay Yuk for explanation, but only gets killed by him. Sum Chi undertakes the investigation and is furious to learn that Kay Yuk has masterminded the whole plot and has killed his father. He swears to get him pay for his deeds. Ya Sin demands twelve military outposts from Ming for the release of Kay Chun. The Ming officials decide Kay Yuk should step up the throne and leads them into fighting back Yachi.

Kay Yuk contrives to frame Ying Chi as the spy from Yachi. Ying Chi kills herself to prove her innocence, and begs Kay Chun to be careful of Kay Yuk. As he gains solid support in the court, Kay Yuk openly defies Kay Chun. He uses Wong Chun to lobby Kay Chun into leading the fight against Yachi. Unaware of the trap, Kay Chun agrees to head the army. Sum Chi decides to help Kay Chun to fight Yachi. He breaks his bondage with Kay Yuk, whom he thinks has put the country people in deep water just to realize his own ambition. Sum Chi proves to be an inspiring leader. He helps Sum Chi advance to To Muk Po, after several small battles. When Kay Yuk learns of their victories, he ruthlessly sends fake ammunitions to them.

Sum Chi is heartbroken thinking that Yi Lan is buried alive when the cave collapses. Actually, Yi Lan has been rescued by Yi Pui Sha who uses poison on Yi Lan to force her to go back to Yachi. Yi Lan is unyielding and waits for her chance to escape. Yi Lan reunites with Sum Chi, but Yi Pui Sha has arrived too in no time. As Yi Lan is seriously poisoned, Sun Chi has no choice but to yield her to Yi Pui Sha. Yan Yan follows Sum Hung back to White Lotus Sect. Ngo Shan combats Sum Hung, wanting to take away Yan, but fails. Ya Sin is persuaded by Yi Pui Sha in launching an attack against Ming. Kay Yuk advocates for fighting back, but Kay Chun wants to go for peace talks. Kay Yuk spreads around rumors accusing Kay Chun of being too emotionally involved with Ying Chi for wanting to fight the Yachi.

Yan Yan interrogates Sum Hung for the whereabout of Sum Chi but fails to get anything from him. When she finally tracks him down, she is made into knowing the contrivance of Yi Lan, as unfolded by Sum Chi. Angered, she swears to kill Yi Lan. Sum Chi invites Cheung Ngo Shan for a duel in order to get the sword. Unable to beat Sum Chi, Ngo Shan invokes a team of walking dead to combat Sum. Yi Lan comes to help Sum and both fall down a cliff. When Yan Yan learns that her father has trained walking dead to harm people, she is dismayed. She leaves Ngo Shan and would not listen to his excuses. Ngo Shan is actually controlled by Yi Pui Sha. When Yi learns about the secret of the ammunitions, she leads her men to the cave. She uses explosives against Sum Chi, Yi lan comes to his aid, Sum escapes but Yi Lan is trapped inside the cave.

When Cheung regains consciousness, Yi Lan lies that Sum Chi has attempted to assault her. Furious, Cheung leads her people to hunt for Sum Chi and Sum Hung, who are able to escape. Yi Lan gets to see Sum Chi, persuading him to give up uncovering the ammunitions. Sum Chi adamantly refuses. Kay Yuk marries Kuan Wah. Because of her influence, he gets promoted to become a General, gaining considerable military power. Kay Chun, having become emotionally attached to Ying Chi, begs her to stay by his side. To avenge on Sum Chi, Cheung Yan Yan catches Sum Hung.

Sum Hung is stabbed by a poisoned knife. Sum Chi begs Ying Chi to cure Hung, but is intercepted by Yi Lan, who demands the map in exchange for the medicine. Sum Chi refuses to yield, but rather gets himself poisoned. Not wanting to see him die, Yi Lan has no choice but to cure him. Ching Ping waits for her chance and grabs the medicine for Sum Hung. Kay Yuk has not given up his dream of becoming the emperor. He maneuvers behind the scene and successfully places his men around the emperor who unwittingly uses them as advisors. Sum Chi arrives at the cave in which the ammunitions are to be found. To break in, he needs a specially made sword from Lik Fo Mansion. Yi Lan appears and gets in a fight with Sum Hung. Sum Chi intercepts, enabling Yi Lan to escape. Yi Lan impersonates Sum Chi and reaches Lik Fo Mansion. To frame him, she hits the owner's daughter Cheung Yan Yan.

Ying Chi tries out the effectiveness of a herbal medicine by poisoning herself, before using it to heal the sickness of Kay Chun, who recovers and feels grateful towards her. When Kay Yuk learns about the ammunitions and the map, he persuades Sum Chi to hand it over to him. At first, Sum Chi refuses. After Kay Yuk promises to grant the power over the army to him when he becomes King, Sum Chi yields to his demand. Kay Yuk is shocked with dismay on learning that his father has passed the throne to his brother Kay Chun. Kay Yuk starts a row with his father who dies with a stroke. Kay Chun learns about his father's death with grief. He confronts Kay Yuk and disowns him as brother. Sum Hung attempts to assassinate Kay Chun, but is stopped by Sum Chi.

Episode 8

Sum Chi leads the others bombarded the palace and successfully help the Emperor regain his throne. Kay Sum and his gang escape. Sum Chi and the chiefs of White Lotus Sect are rewarded official titles. Kay Yuk is pleased to know that he is the prospective successor. Sum Chi returns to the headquarters of the sect with his followers. Inside a deserted secret chamber, they discover a letter scribbled with blood and a map showing the hiding place of loads of ammunitions left by their ancestral leaders. After discussion, they decide to uncover the hidden arms. Kay Yuk's ruthlessness begins to be felt by the emperor. He sent his men to pursue his brother Kay Cha and have him killed. And after promising Kay Chun to let go of Kay Sum, he slashes him with his own sword. The Emperor begins to give second thought as who should be the right successor.

Yiu Kwok is happy to learn that Kay Yuk is still alive. To handle Kay Sum, they decide to seek the helping hand of Yu Him. On the side of Yachi, Ying Chi and Yi Lan propose opening up peace talks with the Ming Court, while Yi Pui Sha advocated invasion. Ya Sin the chief decides to go for peace. Ying Chi and Yi Lan arrive at the Ming Court as envoys for peace talks with Kay Sum and find him insincere and arrogant. At the same time, Yi Lan discovers that Sum Chi has impersonated as a eunuch in order to get the emperor and Kay Chun safely out of the palace. He succeeds, thanks to the help of Yi Lan. The Emperor joins Kay Yuk and the others. Together they make a comeback to the palace.

Kay Sum uses explosives and kills many from White Lotus Sect. Sum Hung gets injured and is carried away by Cho Pat. Sum Chi joins hands with Kay Yuk and beats off their enemies. Escaped, they become sworn brothers. When Kay Yuk learns that his father has stepped down and passed the throne to Kay Sum, he is gravely disappointed. He decides to join White Lotus Sect, so as to better position himself for getting back the throne in the future. Sum Chi promises to lend him help, believing that he will turn out to be a benevolent ruler. Sum Hung strongly objects to Kay Yuk's joining. He leaves in anger with his sister Cho Pat for the west. Kuan Wah reports back to the Sect and is overjoyed to see Kay Yuk alive. Yiu Kowk seeks Sum Chi out, thinking the latter has killed Kay Yuk. By a stroke of luck, their real identity as father and son is revealed.

Sum Chi and Kuan Wah use their newly acquired sword skills to kill Kay Shing, but yet fail to save Sum Hung. The Emperor Suen Chung issues an imperial decree announcing Kay Sum his successor. Kay Yuk appeases his brother so as to better cover his own ambitions. Kuan Wah kidnaps Kay Yuk and uses him as hostage to exchange for Sum Hung. Kay Sum decides to use this opportunity to get rid of Kay Yuk. Sum Chi and Kay Yuk have a friendly match which results in a draw. They develop mutual respect but feel helpless for belonging to opposite camps. As the Emperor agrees to the deal, Sum Chi brings Kay Yuk to the meeting place to exchange for Sum Hung. Kay Sum has sent his men to ambush the place, equipped with explosives.

Kay Shing batters Yiu Kwok and forces him to jump down a cliff. Alarmed, Kay Yuk promptly sends his man Wong to Yiu Kwok's place, hoping to save his family. Wong arrives only to see that Yiu Kowk's whole family has been slaughtered. Kay Yuk is in deep grief thinking that Kuan Wah has died. In fact, Kuan Wah has been saved by her teacher Ching Hui. Sum Chi attempts to save Sum Hung who is kept by Kay Shing. He meets and saves Kuan Wah who has attempted in vain to kill Kay Shing. Under the pursuit of Kay Shing, the two are saved by Yi Lan. Mutual affection develops between Yi Lan and Sum Chi. As they bid farewell, they plan to meet again soon. Sum Chi and Kuan Wah decide to practice together the Chi Hung 13th sword style in the hope to beat Kay Shing one day. Sum Chi is convinced by Ching Ping that Yi Lan is only using him to achieve her own purpose. He foregoes his meeting with her. Yi Lan feels humiliated.

Kay Yuk decides to take Sum Hung back to the capital himself. He is sad to leave Kuan Wah. Sum Chi together with his people try to save Sum Hung but they lose track of Kay Yuk. Yi Lan tells them about Kay Yuk's where about so that they go after them. Yet finally Kay Yuk and his people are able to run away. Kay Yuk returns to the capital. Emperor Suen Chung is very happy and puts Sum Hung and his people into prison. He also grants Yiu Kwok a title. Everybody is very happy except Kay Yuk who worries about things have been getting unexpectedly smooth. Kay Sum summons Sum Hung asking him to contrive with him to frame Yiu Kwok to be a member of White Lotus Sect who acts as an undercover agent. Sum Hung agrees on the condition that Cho Ba and Lang Fung be released. While setting free Cho Ba and Lang Fung in front of Sum Hung, Kay Sum on the other hand sends his men to kill them……

On the way to find Yiu Kwok, Kay Yuk and Ping On are caught in a dispute with Fong Kuan Wah. Both having a bad impression of each other. With his sincerity, Kay Yuk convinces Yiu Kwok to serve the court. Despite of knowing Kay Yuk's background from Yiu Kwok, Kuan Wah dislikes Kay Yuk and they have a duel. Kay Yuk wins so that Kuan Wah's valuable sword is forced down the cliff. Kuan Wah is exasperated. Yi Lan arranges to see Sum Chi but is offended by Sum Hung. To avenge, she poisons Sum Xuan. Sum Chi asks the antidote from Yi Lan and in the confusion, Yi Lan falls off the hill. Sum Chi saves her and to show her gratefulness, she gives the dote to him. Sum Hung unintentionally discloses the secret to Sum Chi that he is a foster son. Pressed by Sum Chi, Sum Xuan finally tells him how he came to adopt him. Sum Chi is dismayed. Kay Yuk and Kuan Wah come to like each other. Kay Yuk makes a new sword himself and gives it to Kuan Wah……

Chu Kay Yuk buys cannon for the court from the Portugueses. Sum Chi and Sum Hung lead their gang to rob it. Kay Yuk isn't able to fight back, he destroys the cannon fearing that it'll fall into Sums' hands. Calamity happens in Shanxi, Sum Hung thinks it's the right time for revolution but is opposed by Sum Chi. Sum Xuan loses his mind again and starts killing people indiscriminately. Everyone helps to catch him and put him back into the cell bathing him in medical drugs. Returning to the palace, Kay Yuk finds out that Kay Chai and Kay Sum have been trying to poison Kay Chun. He asks help from Monk Yue Yue who asks him to seek help from Yiu Kwok. To show their power, Kay Chai and Kay Sum kill Yue Yue in front of Kay Yuk making him grieved with indignation. Yi Lan pursues Sum Chi's help to overcome the Ming court. When Sum Chi finds out that she is the princess of Yachi, he refuses to co- operate……
